THE CELEBRATED STORY

Celebrated Food was begun in 1989 by Chris and Ellen Nadolny. the store was originally conceived as a high-end prepared foods market. The style and cuisine was inspired by Chris’ experience at the Quilted Giraffe and other four-star restaurants in New York City. The menu was a fusion of cultures combined with a twist on many standards of home cooking. The quality and creativeness of the cuisine quickly led to requests for in home services as well as dining facilities at the store. As one reviewer quaintly labeled them, “the restless butterfly” evolved with the demands of the community.

Celebrated Food & Cafe rapidly made it’s mark in the community. Such favorites as the “Crazy Salad” Angel Hair with Raddicchio, Arugala, and Tomato, the carmelized onion scones,   Parmesan Crusted Chicken, and the Mondelbrodt made restaurant a busy, happy place. Reviews came in marking Celebrated Food as cavalier and adventurous. The food was touted a “spankingly fresh”. The decor and menu grew and evolved as Chris and Ellen brought their traveling experiences into the business. Aboriginal and African art adorned the walls. Asian and Caribbean ingredients found their way onto the plates. The business was forever renewing and refreshing. Clients anticipated each new menu with excitement.

Celebrated Food became a part of the town’s rituals. Springtime saw the raising of the umbrellas on the outdoor patio. Halloween brought out cinnamon buns and cider. Benefit nights helped many including the JAC Animal Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, Operation Smile, Arts Unbound and victims of the Tsunami.

The Celebrated name was seen everywhere.   Weddings, mitzvahs, birthdays, retirements and many other events all were energized by the vivacity and panache of Celebrated Food. Guests were known to brag of other “Celebrated” events they had attended. Diners in the restaurant booked events at the conclusion of their meal. President Clinton was a guest of honor at a Celebrated event. Babette’s Feast was recreated at a customer’s request. Celebrated food always enjoyed a challenge. Menus have been created to meet demands of dietary and /or ethnic desires.

Now, Celebrated Food embarks on yet another new adventure. The Cafe has been sold. Celebrated Food will focusing all energies on the catering side of the business. As sad as this change will be for some, it still represents just a new stage in the story of Celebrated Food. Chris and Ellen are anxious to explore new and exciting concepts. Passed Plates are carrying Chris’ creations from the Cafe into people’s homes and hearths. With our focus directed solely at our catered events we can now assure an even greater ability to make your life events, big and small, moments of cherished memory. That is what Celebrated Food is truly about.

Cherished Memory.
